Matte Experimentation

You know that feeling, when you have been wearing the same mani for a couple of days and you're ready for a change...? I had that yesterday, the problem was that I really liked my Purple Beach mani and I wasn't bored with it enough to remove it and apply a new colour. Plus I'm studying for exams at the moment - so I am a little time poor. So I turned to my OPI - Lincoln Park after Dark matte polish and gave myself a french mani over the Purple Beach.

Nubar Matte

Does this style look familiar? :) Hopefully it does - because it is inspired by one of my all time favourite bloggers, Erika from Chloe's Nails!

I love Erika's blog because she has a fantastic eye for color, her mani's are extremely neat and detailed and she has a really fun writing style. I could read her blog all day, her ideas with konading, scotch tape and layering - honestly her she turns her nails into masterpieces! Therefore I don't think my version of scotch tape mani's compare to hers, but it's still fun to give it a try! Practice makes perfect right?

Nubar Matte

This was my first time using matte polish, which is why the application isn't the neatest. But I really love the contrast between the duochrome against the black matte. This honestly took about 5 minutes all up to do, it's such a quick add-on and one which I plan on using more of. <3

What do you think? Have you ever experimented with matte layering?

  1. This is a nice manni!! Not been a fan of matt polish before, but this makes it very appealing indeed. Good work, thanks for the idea! :)

  2. The matte looks really good Mish. I've not tried any matte top coats or polishes yet. I do have an Illamasqua polish that's a black matte and it looks fantastic on the swatch stick for I'll have to give it a go soon. Love Purple Beach:) - such a great colour. I think Nubar polishes are great value all round. And good luck with exams you poor bugger! Thinking of you and all that hard work.
