Trans Design Haul

I have been so excited for the release of China Glaze's Bohemian Luster Chrome Collection - and as soon as I saw it available on transdesign I pressed 'add to cart' as quick as the speed of light. I also bought some other items too and they all arrived today. YAY NAIL MAIL!! *pumps fist*

Firstly though, below is the latest collection from China Glaze. This was a birthday present I bought for myself, I don't buy completele collections very often - but because the collection really focuses on duochrome effects I simply couldn't resist.

From L-R we have: Deviantly Daring, Unpredictable, Rare & Radiant, Swanky Silk, Want My Bawdy, No Plain Jane. I can't wait to try them all on! Stay tuned for that! The next item isn't really exciting, but I think it is necessary to have if you want to take care of your nails.

If you are on the lookout for a decent nail file - you may want to consider looking at OPI's Crystal File.

This is actually my second OPI crystal file, my previous one has had a very hard life and has completely had it. I still have it, but it is starting to smooth out and it's my own fault (I'll go into this more later).

If you don't have a crystal file and you're wondering what all the fuss is about, I'll start by stating the obvious which is that they last longer than the emery files. They file your nail very quickly, but they are also gentle on the nail as well. I have read numerous times about how crystal files are really good because they stop your nails from peeling or chipping. I personally agree with this, from my own experience my nails are always in better condition when I am using the OPI file. Why? Well I assume that your nails won't peel or chip because you don't need to use force with this file. Its rough surface will file your nail down quickly with gentle filing, therefore your nails will not be damaged and weakened from the impact of the file.

Some tips for filing:
  • Only file in one direction, not back and forth or up and down motions.
  • File your nails while you're still wearing polish. When I file mine, I do it before I'm about to change polishes. I find this way really effective, especially if you have dark polish on - because you are able to accurately shape without the influence of following the whites of your nails resulting in uneven shapes and lengths.
  • If you have or are considering buying an OPI crystal file, keep it in the clear cylinder packaging that comes with it. It prolongs the files durability, protecting it from other objects in your handbag that may break it.
But most importantly...
  • The point on this file is extremely sharp, please take care with it. Another reason to use the cylinder packaging, it will easily tear a whole in the inside of your handbag, scratch your phone or even cut your hand if you're reaching into your bag for your purse or something.

It has only taken me a few years, I finally bought Essie's Matte about You! I never thought I would love the matte effect, but I do. I like the idea of being able to change the look of your manicure, without having to always change the nail polish. Essie sells for a small fortune here in Australia (from memory Myer sells this for somewhere between $20-30), so I decided to go ahead and order this too!

The final item in my haul, is one that I wish I had known about a long time ago.

broken-nail

Orly Nail Rescue is a nail repair kit, which I came across while trawling YouTube. It is supposed to work wonders by fixing broken nails! Ironically I became aware of this the day after I had to file my nails right down after I had broken one. Sigh, typical. ANYWAY, as much as I don't want to break a nail - at least when I do I'll be able to tell you how this works!
