White nail polish. It's bold, eye-catching and it's not to everyone's taste. Some love it, while others think it should only be used for french manicures. Well, today I have a white mani but I've put a little bit of a spin on it. After spending last Sunday at the beach and collecting some gorgeous shells, I was inspired to try and achieve a Mother of Pearl look on my nails.
I applied two coats of Orly's White Out and then two coats of Wishing Well - which is the bottle I am holding in the images. As soon as I began to apply Wishing Well, the starkness disappeared and this luminescent pearl shine took over. I couldn't help myself after that, I just had to add my holo top coat! I loved the transition this manicure went through, from a flat white, to pearl and then a holographic pearl!
So for those who do love white polish, it can be a really interesting colour to work with. As you can see, it doesn't have to be stark - nor does it have to be stamped over. I looked for a long time to find a decent white, I found Orly's W/O to be the best, as it doesn't apply streaky and dry chalky.
Would you wear a white manicure? :)
Love white nails! One of my favourite colours to wear!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Caitt! :D I don't wear it often, but enjoy when I do!
DeleteNothing like nice fresh white nails! Especially with alittle shimmer and shine!

DeleteThe shimmer totally transforms white nails. Looks gorgeous
ReplyDeleteAww thank you! :) :)
DeleteI can't say I like the stark white look (reminds me of when girls at school used to paint their nails with white out), but I do love white when it has something special about it, like a pearl or a matte finish or a bit of shimmer.
ReplyDeletehaha exactly, I remember girls doing that at school as well! Thanks for your comment :)
